We had a great design session this meeting. Thomas and Drew brought up the fact that we do not have tables to aid in building things in the shop. This might include a table to set your things on while you work on a power tool. Or an extender table when you cut a large piece of wood on the table saw. This type of table would be really helpful, especially on wheels. So we took this meeting's design session to design a table that we could manufacture in the shop. Each of us came up with some good ideas which we will combine together to make the best table ever! In future meetings we will begin to make the table.
I turned in the paperwork for our club so now we are officially a club! I found out our $50 funding per quarter pretty much needs to be used up near the beginning of the quarter. So the beginning of next quarter we're thinkin of a pizza party or some other kind of food!
Come out to our next meeting on March 14th and good luck on finals!

Minutes for 2/28/11 Meeting
In today's meeting we spoke briefly about the success of the Open House last Thursday. I was unable to attend but from what I hear is was successful and 20 some people showed up. Therese has brought to our attention that it would be a good idea to have a website of some kind showcasing work of IND students. That way employers or even just curious friends can see what we have created and show off a bit or whatever. We also had a design session where we thought of new or abstract forms for office supplies. Some rad ideas were drawn up. All in all it was a good meeting.

Minutes for 1/18/11 Meeting
Because of the MLK holiday, we moved the meeting to Tuesday and looks as though that is a better time for more people. So now we will be meeting on TUESDAYS at 4:30 to 5:30.
In this meeting, Brad Huggins (in charge of student affairs and clubs) came. He informed us that he can print large full color posters for us, that there is a button maker we can use to make buttons for our club, and that each quarter we have $50 in funding for our club.
We talked about the layout for the post cards to send to employers to inform them of the open house. On the back there is a honeycomb type shape which will act as a frame for pictures of student work (to showcase our work). Take pictures of your work or scan in your sketches and post them to the google groups page so that we have work to choose from to showcase on the back.
For the next meeting think up some cool button designs (saying like Industrial Design club, rad designs or IND etc). Also bring in good examples of your work to take pictures of and show off at the open house.

Minutes for 1/10/2011 Meeting
Our first meeting of 2011 went well! We talked about the Open House which is currently scheduled for the first week in February. Due to how close that is, Therese is looking to get it pushed back a bit. We are currently working to finalize the logo for the Industrial Design Department as a whole. This logo, primarily designed by Anthony, will be used for handouts, invites and give away items for the open house. It has not been fully decided if this logo will also be used for the industrial design sign (to be put outside the shop) but if we all agree, then it could be our sign.
The purpose of the open house is to showcase the work of the industrial design department. It is a open house just for our department too! So please look through your work and find pieces that represent what industrial design is all about; 3D models, concept sketches, renderings etc. We're thinking that it might be best to take photos of your work so that you don't have to haul in the originals, but we'll check with Therese for sure on that one.
Our next meeting will be held on TUESDAY JANUARY 18TH due to Martin Luther King Day. At that meeting we will be discussing designs for postcards (to send to people notifying them of the Open House). If you could bring in thumbnail sketches of any ideas you might have of the layout of the postcard, including where the logo will go, what to say on the back, images to include that would be fabulous and help aid in this discussion. Keep them simple! Sketches are fine and digital format would be great.
We will also be discussing possible giveaways for Open House. Some might include little laser cut decals, business cards or whatever. Be creative on those! Open house is also a chance for us students to be present and show off our stuff to employers/visitors so try to come if you can! We will keep you posted on the official date and time of the Open House.
Hope to see you at the next meeting! Spread the word to all your classmates, anyone in industrial design is encouraged to come to our meetings! Still open for suggestions as to what direction you want to see this club going in.

Meeting on Dec 6th
Hello everyone! This is Emily Seel, your newly elected Industrial Design Club secretary/treasurer. The other officers and I thought it would be a good idea to start a blog with what happened at each meeting so that if you miss it, you'll still know what went on.
Yesterday we elected officers for the club. Your Industrial Design Club President is Anthony Garzzona. Your Vice President is James Coles. And I, Emily Seel, am your Secretary/Treasurer. As officers we look forward to a great club and are always open to any comments or suggestions!
In the meeting we also discussed a logo for the department. You know the Interior Design plaque thing at the end of the SC 7th floor? We're looking to come up with a logo that can be used for a sign but can also be scaled down for use on paper for letterheads or whatever. There is an Open House showcasing IND and our Faculty Advisor, Terese, would like us to have a logo by then. Anyone can come up with ideas for a logo. We are hoping to have the logo be just IND. Our idea was to have it represent what we do in Industrial Design. Come up with a finished logo (digital would be great) for the first meeting of the New Year.
We will be meeting next week, on Monday at 4:45 but we totally understand if you have finals to focus on.
The officers and I have set up a Google Group for the club. The details of that are still being hashed out but when that is all final I will be sure to let you all in on it! Stay tuned for what happens each week and please come to the meetings! We are sure to have fun things in store!
